Personally, I see this as an absolute must. Upsetting that it became money-driven company rather than one to care for it's users by providing flexibility.īut the OP does use a 1Password account.

I guess they can do that since their software became so popular and their gained power. However, it feels more like a marketing scheme. Of course the answers to questions like mine are convoluted on 1Password FAQ/forum where everything is being justified as a measure required to provide stronger security. Great way for them to retain their old userbase and lock-in new users, but shitty for users who want flexibility.

More importantly 1Password quietly made their software incompatible and harder to switch to other password managers by getting rid of *.1pif, which makes it impossible to export data while retaining attachments (for large database) and now it seems impossible to export *.opvault if one is using their own cloud. Now priviously paid software is outdated and their new version is subscription only and no grandfathering for old users. I've been using 1Password for many years now and purchased their software before they went to subscription. We'll always be marked by an official flair, and will always love both 1Password and you. You'll see some friendly people from the 1Password team ready to help you - keep an eye out for /u/1PasswordCS-Blake, /u/agben, u/Zatara214, and more of us!
